Good things do come in small packages and the 2024 Volvo EX30 is proof. The all-new EV is a conveniently small SUV—our smallest ever, in fact—and its efficient frame and Scandi design makes it a winning model for customers looking for something that’s comfortable, yet compact.

“The fully electric EX30 might be our smallest ever SUV, but it’s a big deal for our customers and a big deal for us as a company,” says Jim Rowan, chief executive at Volvo. “We like to say the EX30 is small yet mighty, because it delivers on everything you’d want from a Volvo but in a smaller package. Like any Volvo, it’s an outstanding product which is safe and designed around people and their needs.”

It’s easy to meet the needs of different drivers with the EX30. While it’s completely battery powered, there are two powertrain options.

For motorists who want to max out the range, there’s the Single Motor Extended Range variant. This has an NMC extended-range battery that features lithium, nickel, manganese, and cobalt for ultimate efficiency, and the single-motor, extended range option gives you about 275 miles between charges (this is estimated, of course, and actual results will depend on real world driving conditions and other external factors).

If you’re Team Performance and care more about how your SUV moves, then the Twin Motor Performance variant is for you. The NMC battery has been paired with an additional e-motor. This all-wheel drive variant has outputs of 422 hp and will go from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Impressed? You should be. This makes the EX30 our fastest-accelerating car of all time.

There are more firsts to celebrate.

The EX30 is the most environmentally-friendly vehicle to ever join our line-up. It has the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo car ever made, which is a milestone on our path to a net zero future. The total carbon footprint for the EX30 is just 200,000 kms of driving to below 30 tons* and this has been achieved through making conscious choices in materials both inside and out.

As if you need another reason to fall for the EX30, let’s talk about charging. It’s delightfully quick. The extended range variant has 153 kW of charging capacity, which will take it from 10 to 80 per cent in just over 25 minutes, and using the Volvo app on your phone (or from in the car), you can toggle elements to suit your needs, like the when you want to start charging, the amperage and max charging level.

Further, safety is always a priority for us at Volvo and the EX30 is no exception. We’ve built in new standard safety features, like alerts for when bicycles, scooters or runners are approaching or passing the doors, in order to avoid “dooring” accidents. We’ve also integrated world-class restraint technology and in-house safety requirements, which have been designed to respond to real-world scenarios on the road.

We’re excited about the arrival of the EX30 here at Volvo Cars Waterloo. Contact us today to learn more.
